Airman's Dining Facility

This project at MacDill AFB, FL provides an attractive, efficient dining facility to replace the original inadequate and maintenance-intensive facility originally constructed in the 1960s. The new dining facility seats 259 patrons and includes state-of-the-art food preparation and serving equipment. The functional building program, developed with the User of the facility during the Charrette process, includes a total of three dining rooms.

Two large dining rooms accommodate 191 patrons, and a separate, smaller dining room accommodates an additional 68 patrons. The small dining room can be closed off from the remainder of the building to conduct activities such as seminars, special meetings, and other private functions. Offices for administrative staff, MRE storage areas, food storage, food preparation and food serving areas are included in the facility.

Architectural features include a large dormer skylight which will allow natural light into the main corridor and serving areas. The dining rooms face an outdoor landscaped green space. The design incorporates a large plaza area with space for patrons to dine outside and under cover.

Bullock Tice Associates provided Architectural and Interior Design services including overall Project Management for the facility which was awarded the Headquarters Air Mobility Command (HQ AMC) Command-level design awards for both Conceptual Design (2002) and Facility Design (2004).
